The NBA trade deadline is usually like none other, especially the day of! If history repeats itself, on the day of the trade deadline (Feb 9, 2023) we usually will see an average of 11 trades go down. We’re making this a living post, meaning we’ll mention when it was updated last and will try our best to highlight every trade. We removed the draft picks in each scenario to simplify the fantasy aspect.

1. Wizards 🤝 Lakers

Wizards Receive
➡️ Kendrick Nunn (SG)

Lakers Receive
➡️ Rui Hachimura (SF,PF)

Thoughts
Rui Hachimura gets a fresh start with the kinda-rebuilding-but-also-kinda-not Lakers. He eventually overtook Troy Brown Jr in the starting lineup, as expected, but is still averaging just a hair below 30 min a game. He’s shown flashes as a solid contributor in his new role on the Lakers, but ultimately if they are fully healthy he will continue to be a role player. Now that LeBron has broken the scoring record, if the Lakers continue to find themselves on the outside looking in on the playoff picture we could see a bigger opportunity for Rui if guys start to sit out games.

This trade also doesn’t do a whole lot for Kendrick Nunn, who went from a reserve role to another pretty much. He’s currently pretty buried on the Wizards depth chart, so unless they get his with an injury bug – don’t expect much more from Nunn on the Wizards.

⚠️Trade Update: With the Lakers also acquiring additional players from another trade, this will also affect Rui’s value going forward. Doesn’t seem to be more than a streamer for a game or 2 at this point.

2. Nets 🤝 Mavericks

Nets Receive
➡️ Spencer Dinwiddie (PG)
➡️ Dorian Finney-Smith (SF,PF)

Mavericks Receive
➡️ Kyrie Irving (PG,SG)

Thoughts
The big trade-deadline move happened pretty quickly after Kyrie formally requested a trade from the Nets. The Mavericks swooped in and acquired Kyrie for Spencer Dinwiddie, Dorian Finney-Smith plus a future first round pick. At first glance, a pretty even “swap” of players who play the same position. Kyrie will slide into the role previously held by Dinwiddie in Dallas and will likely see similar usage playing next to Luka, or possibly even a little more. Dinwiddie will either replace Kyrie in the starting lineup or come off the bench, with the emergence of Cam Thomas that decision is probably the biggest question mark right now. Obviously, the Nets have a lot of holes that will be filed fairly quickly, whenever Durant returns, but for now Cam Thomas seems to be the biggest beneficiary of the trade fallout.

⚠️Trade Update: Uhh yeah, Durant’s not coming back to the Nets anymore. Cam Thomas still is the biggest beneficiary here.

3. Heat 🤝 Spurs

Heat Receive
➡️ Cash

Spurs Receive
➡️ Dewayne Dedmon (C)

Thoughts
Not a whole lot to see here. The chances of the Spurs relying on Dedmon for any meaningful minutes are probably pretty thin. There’s a chance he’ll be bought out or there’s also a chance the Spurs are looking to add some depth if they find a trade partner for Poeltl. If that happens, Collins will see the biggest bump in value.

4. Lakers 🤝Jazz 🤝Timberwolves

Lakers Receive
➡️ D’Angelo Russell (PG)
➡️ Malik Beasley (SG)
➡️ Jarred Vanderbilt (PF)

Timberwolves Receive
➡️ Mike Conley (PG)
➡️ Nickeil Alexander-Walker (SG)

Jazz Receive
➡️ Russell Westbrook (PG)
➡️ Juan Toscano-Anderson (PF)
➡️ Damian Jones (C)

Thoughts
By far the biggest trade of the deadline so far when it comes to the amount of players involved (8 players total). The Lakers, who were previously rumored to be in on Kyrie Irving, finally were able to upgrade their point guard position by acquiring D’Angelo Russell from Minnesota. Russell is by far the focal piece of this deal, so it makes sense to think that he can maintain his current production even while sharing the court with Lebron and Anthony Davis. His usage will take a hit but hopefully he can keep up his scoring and assists. The other new additions (Beasley and Vanderbilt) will eat into some other roles, too – mainly Rui Hachimura, Pat Beverley, Dennis Schroder, and Thomas Bryant.

The other pieces to this deal aren’t as big as Russell’s potential impact but still note worthy. Conley will put on a different uniform but will see a familiar face under the hoop in Rudy Gobert. Maybe Conley can help revive Gobert’s inconsistent fantasy season and bring some of that previous magic with him. Russell Westbrook is also rumored to be bought out by the Jazz. If that happens, wherever he lands will make or break his value. The Chicago Bulls, Miami Heat, and the Los Angeles Clippers seem like decent places for him to land if he becomes available.

5. Trail Blazers 🤝 Knicks

Trail Blazers Receive
➡️ Cam Reddish (PG, SG)

Knicks Receive
➡️ Josh Hart (SG, SF)

Thoughts
Josh Hart started his last game with the Blazers and then proceeded to sub out when the trade was completed. He said his goodbyes on the court to his teammates and will leave a role he was pretty effective in with the Blazers. Cam Reddish’s experience was a little different, since he hasn’t played a game for the Knicks in awhile. Presumably, Reddish gets a fresh start in Portland and could compete for a starting spot in the rotation like the one just vacated by Josh Hart. Hart now finds himself on a more crowded Knicks team. Unsure if he will start or come off the bench, but until we know more he is still worth holding. This probably means less usage for guys like Quentin Grimes and possibly Immanuel Quickley. Reddish could be looked at in deeper leagues but that’s about it.

6. Spurs 🤝Toronto

Spurs Receive
➡️ Khem Birch (C)

Raptors Receive
➡️ Jacob Poeltl (C)

Thoughts
Poeltl heads back to the team that originally drafted him, a little wiser and a better player. The Raptors, who were a team on the fence regarding blowing it up or going for it, looks to have decided to buy a little bit at the deadline with the acquisition of Poeltl. This is a good landing place for Poeltl as he will continue to get a healthy amount of minutes on a playoff-pushing Raptors team. This probably also means less playing time for Precious Achieuwa. Khem Birch joins the other backup centers in San Antonio, since he will most likely be backing up Zach Collins who will move into the starting lineup. If there’s anyone to grab from this trade, it’s Collins.

7. Nets 🤝 Suns

Nets Receive
➡️ Mikal Bridges (SF,SG)
➡️ Cam Johnson (SF,PF)
➡️ Jae Crowder (PF,SF)

Phoenix Receives
➡️ Kevin Durant (PF,SF)
➡️ TJ Warren (SF)

Thoughts
Wow. This one is the classic deadline blockbuster we were all waiting for! After the Nets shipped off Kyrie, it was reported that Durant and the front office were having discussions about the Nets future. Apparently, the discussions ended with the best option forward is to trade the All-Star forward to the Suns for some players and a boat load of picks. The starting lineup for the Suns is insane; Chris Paul, Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and DeAndre Ayton. Durant’s arrival will for sure cut into some of their usage, probably Chris Paul will take the biggest hit but hopefully his assist numbers will remain the same or increase.

On the other side of the coin, you have quite a few players heading back to Brooklyn in this trade. The Nets roster is wild right now, only because we really don’t know how the dust is going to settle. Like we mentioned above, Cam Thomas still seems to be the big winner here now without a high-volume guy like Durant not returning to the lineup. Jae Crowder gets a bit bump simply because he might actually play this season, however it’s been reported it still may not be with the Nets as they are expected to explore trade possibilities before the deadline. The Nets roster is definitely one we should keep an eye on in the coming days!

8. Celtics 🤝 Thunder

Celtics Receive
➡️ Mike Muscala (C)

Thunder Receive
➡️ Justin Jackson (SF)

Thoughts
Looks like some much needed depth additions here, especially for the Celtics. Muscala could be a nice insurance piece for the Celtics as they gear up for a playoff run, especially with the often-injured Robert Williams. Justin Jackson didn’t really play a whole lot for the Celtics so it’s unsure what role he might fill on the young Thunder. Muscala could be a nice grab in deeper leagues until the Celtics return to full health.

9. Bucks 🤝 Nets 🤝 Pacers

Bucks Receive
➡️ Jae Crowder (SF,PF)

Nets Receive
➡️ A lot of 2nd round picks lol

Pacers Receive
➡️ Jordan Nwora (SG)
➡️ George Hill (PG)

Thoughts
Looks like Jae Crowder has finally found his home for the year, the Milwaukee Bucks. Crowder hasn’t played this year at all so it’s not clear what type of game shape he may be in. His last full year he averaged 9.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.4 blocks with the Suns. He will definitely give the Bucks some much needed depth, however it’s unsure if he will start or come off the bench since they are still managing Middleton’s minutes at the moment. Keep an eye on that situation. The Pacers also add Jordan Nwora for some depth, and will be waiving Goga Bitadze to make room.

10. Lakers 🤝 Nuggets

Lakers Receive
➡️ Davon Reed (SG)

Nuggets Receive
➡️ Thomas Bryant (C)

Thoughts
The Lakers sending Thomas Bryant to the Nuggets gives newly acquired Jarred Vanderbilt some more room to work with, which tells us maybe they’re carving out a bigger role for him than what he had in Utah. Bryant goes to the Nuggets in a backup role to Nikola Jokic, which means the Bryant train might have officially run out of steam. Wenyen Gabriel also will see a bump in value with this move on the Lakers.

11. 76ers 🤝 Hornets 🤝 Trail Blazers

76ers Receive
➡️ Jalen McDaniels (PF)

Hornets Receive
➡️ Svi Mykhailuk (PG)

Trail Blazers Receive
➡️ Matisse Thybulle (SG)

Thoughts
Another 3 way trade at this crazy deadline, this one sending some much needed depth to the 76ers, some defensive help for the Trail Blazers and some draft picks for the Hornets. Jalen McDaniels finds himself behind Tobias Harris on the depth chart, meaning it’s unlikely he’ll see an increased role from when he was on the Hornets but we think he’ll still be able to average the same minutes. He may be more of a fringe player after this, however. Matisse Thybulle was a huge disappointment for the 76ers this year, only averaging around 12 minutes a game. The Trail Blazers need some defensive help so he’ll be relied upon to help in that category. He’s not a must-add player right now but he’s worth a speculative add if you have a build that focused on defensive stats.

12. Nuggets 🤝 Clippers

Nuggets Receive
➡️ Draft picks

Clippers Receive
➡️ Bones Hyland (PG)

Thoughts
Bones Hyland says hello to a new squad and also a new chance at running point for the Clippers. He immediately becomes their point guard on the roster and should slot into the starting role fairly nicely. He’s worth a pick up just to see what happens on the new team.

13. Warriors 🤝 Pistons 🤝 Hawks

Warriors Receive
➡️ Kevin Knox (SF,SG)

Pistons Receive
➡️ James Wiseman (C)

Hawks Receive
➡️ Saddiq Bey (SF)

Thoughts
Saddiq Bey look to join a more talented and crowded Hawks team, unless more moves are made it might be tough for him to carve out the same amount opf minutes he had in Detroit. Not a whole lot to do with Wiseman in Detroit, and the Warriors just added some draft picks.

14. Hawks 🤝 Rockets

Hawks Receive
➡️ Garrison Matthews (SG)
➡️ Bruno Fernando (SF)

Rockets Receive
➡️ Justin Holiday (PG,SG)
➡️ Frank Kaminsky (PF)

Thoughts
Looks like the Hawks are trying to save some money on the cap space with this move. The return for the Rockets could be interesting, especially with Kevin Porter Jr still recovering from injury. Keep an eye on Justin Holiday.

15. Clippers 🤝 Rockets 🤝 Grizzlies

Clippers Receive
➡️ Eric Gordon (SG)

Rockets Receive
➡️ Danny Green (SG)
➡️ John Wall (PG)

Grizzlies Receive
➡️ Luke Kennard (SG)

Thoughts
Eric Gordon will slide into a bench piece fairly nicely for the Clippers. Taking the role left by Kennard and also eating into some of Powell’s role he should still be able to see anywhere from 20 -25 minutes per game. Might be worth holding with so much movement going on right now at the deadline. Danny Green is still in a reserve role for the Rockets and Kennard also with the Grizzlies – fringe guys, they can stay on the wire for now.

16. Magic 🤝 Lakers

Magic Receive
➡️ Patrick Beverley (PG)

Lakers Receive
➡️ Mo Bamba (C,PF)

Thoughts
Pat Bev will join the Orlando Guards, I mean the Orlando Magic who already have a log jam at the guard position. Mo Bamba will also slide in another reserve role with the Lakers, similar to what he held in Orlando. No pickups here.

17. Clippers 🤝 Hornets

Clippers Receive
➡️ Mason Plumlee (C)

Hornets Receive
➡️ Reggie Jackson(PG)

Thoughts
Plumlee’s arrival in Los Angeles makes things a little tricky for his value and also Zubac’s. They will definitely be sharing time now, probably lowering both of their values in the immediate future. Jackson will backup Ball and Rozier, which doesn’t bode well for his value unless Rozier will be on the move. Plumlee and Jackson are a wait and see approach right now.

18. Trail Blazers 🤝 Warriors

Trail Blazers Receive
➡️ Kevin Knox (SF,SG)

Warriors Receive
➡️ Gary Payton III (PG)

Thoughts
Gary Payton returns to the Warriors where we last served as a backup guard in their rotation. He’ll find himself in a similar situation now with Curry out. Previously with the Warriors he averaged a nice 1.4 steals per game, with Curry out we think he has the potential to match those defensive stats again. Knox on the Trail Blazers doesn’t mean much for now.

19. Spurs 🤝 Pelicans

Spurs Receive
➡️ Devonte Graham (PG)

Pelicans Receive
➡️ Josh Richardson (SF)

Thoughts
Devonte Graham could start for the injured Spurs in the short term, but when Tre Jones is healthy again he would return to a bench role. Sending Josh Richardson gives guys like Malachi Branham a nice boost as well as someone like Jeremy Sochan whenever he returns from injury. The Spurs are going nowhere fast so they may get a little weird with their lineups. Josh Richardson on the Pelicans unfortunately doesn’t have a lot of value.
